Silk was born Fredericton located in New Brunswick Canada. The daughter of Peter Silk, a professor, as well as Ilkay Silk, a prominent actor, director, producer, writer, teacher, and director of drama of Drama at St. Thomas University. Anna recounts some of her earliest memories of childhood when she used to see her mother during play rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still a kid. Silk graduated from St. Thomas University with an Associate of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas produced two of its first productions: Seven Menus, and The Kitchen. Silk was able to move from Toronto on November 29, 1999 to Los Angeles during the next decade. Silk met her husband, Seth Cooperman, at an Actor's workshop held in Los Angeles, in 2007. In 2009 they were married civilly in December 2009. When she converted to Judaism the couple renew their vows in a Jewish wedding ceremony on April 10, 2011.
